But be as it may, my love for movies will never be hold back by any glitch or calamitous forebodings, not even when i grow broke or when i grow old. It is something that i have fondly included in my way of life. Anyway, the two movies that i have been mentioning are Ratatouille and Hairspray. Its actually the fifth and the sixth movie that i have seen since i arrived here in Dubai last March (Paul might be smiling from ear to ear if he reads this). In case you miss these movies, i suggest you run to the cinema and treat yourself to a delightful and best films of the season.
Ratatouille is about a rat named Remy who dreams of becoming a great French chef despite his family's wishes and the obvious problem of being a rat in a decidedly rodent-phobic profession. It opened to a harvest of critical phraises saying the film is "...unexpectedly moving...", "...totally thrilling." , "...a blithe concoction, as well as a miraculously textured piece of animated design.", "...a nearly flawless piece of popular art, as well as one of the most persuasive portraits of an artist ever committed to film." ,"...ranks among the greatest animated films in recent years..." Hairspray is the story of Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart and her only one passion--dancing. Her dream is to appear on "The Corny Collins Show," Baltimore's hippest dance party on TV. Tracy seems a natural fit for the show except for one not-so-little problem--she doesn't fit in. Her plus-sized figure has always set her apart from the cool crowd. Like Ratatouille, Hairspray opened in the US with favorable reviews. Critics has collectively agreed that the film is "...a musical delight.", "...a fizzy and delirious high-camp message-movie musical that may just turn out to be the happiest movie of the summer.", "A jolt of unbridled entertainment...", "...the best and most entertaining movie adaptation of a stage musical so far this century..". Having watched these two films have more than made my day. Though i don't get to see as much as i did back in Manila, now it's the quality that matters.
